Benin agog as 800 students take over Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium’s tracks

Over 800 athletes will compete at the maiden MTN CHAMPS, a school athletics programme, from today to October 14 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.

The three-day competition has received 1500 event entries, according to the organiser, Making of Champions (MoC).

MoC Managing Director, Yemi Olus-Galadima, stated that a total of 142 School/Team entries were received across the three age categories (Cadet, Youth & Junior).

A final entry list of those registered for the event will be published today.

All registered schools/athletes, according to her, are expected to pick up their competition bibs to confirm their participation no later than today at the competition venue to remain on their event start lists.

The President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Tonobok Okowa, had promised that the federation would provide technical assistance to MoC in ensuring a smooth organisation of the MTN school athletics championships.
