Ben Mee next club transfer link emerges as former Burnley skipper poised to make decision

Ben Mee has been linked with a move to Brentford as the former Burnley skipper prepares to make a decision on his future.

The defender left Turf Moor at the end of last season when his contract expired and has yet to find a new club. But he had Premier League offers prior to calling time on his Clarets career and, according to The Telegraph, has held talks with the Bees as he weighs up a decision.

The new Premier League campaign starts in under three weeks and the 32-year-old will want to have his future sorted by then. He was captain and one of the first names on the teamsheet at Burnley and will have eyes on regular football again as he plots his next move.

Mee posted a message on social media upon leaving Burnley after 11 years, thanking the fans and saying he will be returning to Turf Moor with his family as a supporter in the future.

"As you all probably know by now I'll be leaving the club after 11 years," he said. "It's a club and town that has grown a very special place in my heart throughout that time.

"I'd like to thank all the staff I have worked with throughout my time at the club who made Burnley home for me. There are so many fantastic people that work behind the scenes to make it all tick over and it was a pleasure to work with you and get to know you all.

"To my team-mates, who I've been lucky enough to share the dressing room with, thank you for making my time so enjoyable. There have been plenty of brilliant players but also many great characters that have become very good friends of mine. We have shared lots of incredible times on and off the pitch and it was a joy sharing those moments with you.
