Ben Foster compares Wrexham to Manchester United on US pre-season tour

Ben Foster believes Wrexham's popularity in the US can only be matched by Manchester United as the two sides prepare to meet during their respective pre-season tours.

The Red Dragons have received a surge in popularity Stateside after Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club. FX's documentary 'Welcome to Wrexham' helped to build their image in America as the National League champion's story resonated with the audience abroad.

Such was the success of the documentary, the League Two club are now touring the US for the rest of this month as they prepare for the new campaign which begins on Saturday, August 5 when they host MK Dons. In the early hours of Thursday morning, Phil Parkinson's men faced Chelsea in North Carolina.

A brace from Ian Maatsen and three late strikes from Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku and Ben Chilwell secured a comfortable victory for Mauricio Pochettino's team but there were plenty of Wrexham fans out in force to cheer on their team.
