Ben Doak hype escalates as Liverpool prospect dubbed next Mo Salah by elite wonderkid list

Liverpool prospect Ben Doak has been ranked among the top 50 wonderkids in world football as the Scot continues his rise.

The former Celtic youngster had been enjoying his breakout season at Anfield, making five first-team appearances under Jurgen Klopp, before his season was brought to an abrupt end in December with the 18-year-old requiring surgery to fix a torn ligament in his knee. The Liverpool attacker had been tipped as a wildcard to be picked by Steve Clarke for Scotland's Euro 2024 squad - but the injury blow ended his hopes of jetting out to Germany.

But despite the injury blow, Doak has been recognised as one of the 50 best wonderkids in world football on Goal's NXGN list landing at number 39 in the rankings. Is it noted that the attacker would have seen more game time had he not been hampered by injury woes - and tipped Doak as the natural successor to Mo Salah on Merseyside.

When discussing Doak - who is the youngest Scot to play in the English Premier League - it was claimed on the NXGN list: "The Anfield faithful have already seen enough of Doak since his arrival from Celtic in 2022 to know that the Reds have a special winger on their hands. There are those who believe he can help fill the void left by Mohamed Salah when the Egyptian inevitably leaves Liverpool in the near future."

He is joined by Leeds United's rising star Archie Gray on the list in 43rd spot. The 17-year-old midfielder is one of the hottest properties in England right now and could play for Scotland.
