Beijing Winter Olympics live blog: final night of women's moguls with Australia's Jakara Anthony in the mix for gold

The women's moguls competition in Beijing comes to a conclusion with the second qualifying and the finals — three Australians are left in the mix, with Jakara Anthony having a chance of gold.

Australia has two medals in moguls at the Winter Olympics.

Both were won by Dale Begg-Smith — a breakthrough gold medal in Turin in 2006, followed by a silver medal in Vancouver four years later.

Australia's best result in women's moguls has been fourth. Britteny Cox achieved that placing at Sochi in 2014, while Jakara Anthony matched it in Pyeongchang four years ago.

Australia's Taylah O'Neill will not compete in qualifying 2 because of the problems from her pre-Games knee injury. She attempted a first run on Thursday but could not complete her performance.

Sophie Ash was 13th after qualifying 1, with 10 advancing to the finals. She thus goes into tonight's second qualifying with the third highest score — the top 10 scorers will advance to the 20-woman final 1 later on.

Already qualified for the finals are Jakara Anthony and Britteny Cox. Anthony finished on top in qualifying 1, while Cox finished ninth. Anthony shapes as a decent chance of a medal tonight, but who knows?

With moguls, competitor's chances can disappear in seconds with a bad landing or a loss of control on the slopes.

The first qualifying was held on Thursday, where the top 10 scorers went straight through to the finals.

Tonight, the rest of the competition will be held at the Genting Snow Park at Zhangjiakou.
