'Beautiful mentality' - Manchester United fans love Erik ten Hag's dressing room comments

Manchester United fans are hailing Erik ten Hag after he opened up on the importance of a unified dressing room ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old took charge of his final game with Ajax on Sunday as the Eredivisie champions ended their season with a 2-2 draw at Vitesse Arnhem. The Amsterdam outfit left it late to secure a point as Edson Alvarez’s equaliser ensured the outgoing boss didn’t end his tenure with a defeat.

Having secured his third league title earlier in the week, Ten Hag’s focus now turns towards matters at Old Trafford. The incoming United boss addressed the job facing him in his new role as he was asked whether he was ready for the “sharks” (the media) awaiting him in the Premier League.

“I don’t see them like that,” Ten Hag responded. “I don’t see you like that too, nobody. What it’s all about is the dressing room, you need to be able to manage the dressing room. You have to make it function. That’s how you win games."

Ten Hag’s comments are particularly timely as he prepares to take over at a club that has been reported to have had numerous dressing room issues. Only this week, more reports have suggested a bust-up in training as the end of the season approaches.

The Dutchman will have quite the job on his hands drawing together what has been a dysfunctional side this season. He’s made the right start with United fans by immediately addressing the problems in the dressing room.
