Beaujolais Day 2023: Live updates as hundreds set to dress up and fill Swansea bars and restaurants

Hundreds of people will descend on Swansea's bars and restaurants today for one of the highlights of the city's social calendar, Beaujolais Day.

Whilst the day isn't celebrated in many places in the UK, it's been a huge social event for Swansea for around 50 years - ever since the then-owner of No Sign wine bar on Wind Street brought some bottles of Beaujolais back from France and launched a special Beaujolais Day event at his bar in the 1960s. Meanwhile, in the last few years, it's started picking up in Cardiff too.

As well as a celebration at No Sign Bar, there will be a wide range of events and special dinners hosted at venues across Swansea, with live music, food and plenty of wine, as well a handful of special events in the capital as well.

People will dress up in their gladrags to mark the occasion, which falls on the third Thursday of November each year and marks the first harvest of grapes in the Beaujolais region of France. You can follow the day live here.
