Beach town named a 'perfect package' just a train ride away from Manchester
Tynemouth, a seaside town in the North East, has been named the 'coolest' in the UK by Time Out magazine.
Known for its stunning scenery, brilliant beaches, top-notch food and drink, and welcoming atmosphere, the town made it onto the list of the best 20 seaside destinations in the UK and was singled out for its chilled vibes.
The Time Out author praised the town for managing to 'perfectly merge artisan city cool and wholesome coastal pursuits into the "perfect salty, seaside package".
Tynemouth is home to King Edward's Bay and the highly rated Long Sands Beach, both popular throughout the year.
The town also boasts stunning architecture, with beautiful houses overlooking the North Sea, as well as plenty of places to relax and unwind, offering hearty food, drinks, and live music.
The stunning destination is a little over two hours away from Manchester by train.
Tynemouth Priory is also the proud host of the annual Mouth of the Tyne festival, which has seen local music icons such as Sam Fender and Andrew Cushin, along with other household names like Rick Astley, The Proclaimers, Jack Savoretti and Heather Small, take to the stage.
Tynemouth isn't just popular with musicians; the cast of ITV's hit crime drama Vera have spent a lot of time there over the show's 14-year run, and Strictly stars have been known to visit for a seaside dip before dining at Crusoe's.
Food critics have also sung the praises of local favourite Riley's Fish Shack, including Michel Roux Jr, Rick Stein and Jay Rayner, reports Chronicle Live.
