BBC Who Do You Think You Are? fans react as Paddy McGuinness blown away by 'error' in family history

Viewers of the BBC programme Who Do You Think You Are? were quick to spot Paddy McGuinness' frequent use of the term "mindblowing" as he delved into his ancestral past.

Thursday night (August 22) television was abuzz with the latest episode of the beloved historical series, featuring presenter Paddy as he traced back his lineage.

With a candid admission that he knew little about his grandparents' lives, Paddy was visibly astounded by every new piece of information revealed.

Yet, it was Paddy's incessant use of the word "mindblowing" that caught the attention of fans. Many took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to highlight the repetition.

One viewer exclaimed: "Mind-blowing amount of mind-blowing in this episode," reports the Express.

Another said: "Paddy’s mind is really being blown tonight," while a third added: "Everything is mind-blowing to Paddy," followed by a laughing face emoji.

During the programme, the TV star discovered an error on his great grandfather, Paddy Leonard's, birth certificate. As he looked at the paper in front of him, he noticed his great-grandparent's surnames were spelled incorrectly.

"Spelling mistakes are quite common as we go back through the records," the expert told Paddy before adding: "And that is because they spell it how they hear it."

"That is mind-blowing," Paddy said in shock.

Later in the programme, Paddy was eager to trace his Irish heritage, discovering it didn't originate from his grandfather, William.

By the show's conclusion, the TV host found a baptism certificate for his great-grandmother Bridget, revealing she was baptized in Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland.
