BBC viewers 'blub' over Hairy Bikers' Dave Myers update as he explains cancer diagnosis decision

BBC viewers said they were left 'blubbing' as they tuned in to see Dave Myers' latest show alongside sidekick Si King. The pair were back together on BBC2 on Tuesday night (December 19) with their show, The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home For Christmas.

Now reunited with his best mate, Dave wanted to give back to those who helped him throughout his recent struggles after being diagnosed with cancer. He recently admitted that he didn’t believe he’d still be here to celebrate Christmas this year following his life-changing diagnosis last year.

The 66-year-old TV chef announced his cancer diagnosis in May 2022. Dave, who hasn't specified where the cancer was found, shared the news of his cancer diagnosis on an episode of the pair's Agony Uncles podcast and said that he didn't want to 'hide under a rock', but would be away from work and asked fans to 'respect his privacy' as he underwent treatment.

But Dave has since made a much-welcomed return to some work commitments, including TV appearances with Si and during their latest special, viewers saw the pair planning to create a festive banquet to thank all those who've helped Dave throughout his diagnosis.

During the episode, which started by showing Dave in the hopspital before undergoing rehab with the hopes of returning to riding his motorbike, he also explained why he hadn't divulged publicly about what cancer he specifically had, but did offer fans an update on his health and his journey so far to recovery.
