BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland's tearful response as he shares daughter's reaction to win for first time

Chris McCausland had a tearful response to his daughter's reaction to his Strictly Come Dancing as he opened up on his win in a new interview. It's been weeks after the comedian's dancer journey with Dianne Buswell came to an end.

But it's fair to say the pair's friendship remains stronger than ever. As fans know, the comedian was paired with the professional dancer for the 2024 run of BBC One dance contest back in September.

Twelve weeks later they made it through to the grand final, which marked week 13 of the competition, where they were crowned the 20th-anniversary series champions and lifted the sought after Glitterball trophy after being stiff competition from their fellow finalists.

Despite their success, Dianne and Chris' dancing journey together quickly came to an end unlike some of their other co-stars. Fans will also know that following their dancing triumph, Chris and Dianne went their separate ways after Chris was unable to sign up for the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour 2025.

Chris has now opened up in a new interview about what his time on Strictly has done for him telling The Sunday Times magazine: "I’ve always been very closed off. I’ve always hidden emotions under the carpet - 'Pull your pants up and get on with it.' Strictly certainly opened me up."

Chris, who is now writing his first autobiography, went on: "I’d tried to write this book a year ago I’d have been a lot less willing to explore emotion and feeling. I feel very comfortable with the vulnerability because the last four months have been so vulnerable."

But the comic recalled that towards the end of the competition, he was doing 15-hour days which left him "broken". He added: "I mean, it was relentless. Physically I ached. I had lost weight.
