BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans make 'weird' observation about Musicals week as major changes made to quarter-finals

It wasn't just Musicals week in the ballroom this weekend but also the all-important Strictly Come Dancing quarter-finals. However, the usual plan at this stage of the competition was axed with the remaining couples not having to compete for a place in next weekend's semi-final.

The BBC One dance contest returned to screens on Saturday night (December 2) after being thrown into chaos just hours before the live show was due to air as Nigel Harman was forced to withdraw from the competition.

The Casualty actor and his dance partner Katya Jones were expected to perform a Charleston to Step In Time from Disney’s Mary Poppins with his partner Katya in the Musical weeks special. However, he had to pull out of the show and the rest of the series at the eleventh hour due to suffering a rib injury which saw him end up in A&E. His withdrawal from the competition meant that there were only four couples to perform.

And with two weeks to go until the final, and after Amanda Abbington withdrew from the contest earlier in the series, a decision was made to cancel this weekend's dreaded dance-off and subsequent elimination meaning there was no public vote and the judges' scores will be carried over to next weekend's leaderboard.

But Strictly fans couldn't help but feel like things felt different to usual as the remaining four couples - Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Laytone Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell, and Annable Croft and Johannes Radebe.
