BBC Strictly Come Dancing confirms first special of 2024 after first shock elimination

Strictly Come Dancing has confirmed what the first special of the 2024 series will be following some shocking news in the ballroom. Viewers of the BBC One dance contest have been left stunned by the first elimination of the series as it was revealed on Sunday night (September 29).

The results show followed another epic Saturday evening (September 28) in the ballroom which saw former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri topped the Strictly leaderboard after receiving the first scores of nine of the series.

The reality star, who is the show’s second deaf contestant, dazzled the judges with her elegant Viennese waltz to Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore with her partner Aljaz Skorjanec.

After landing the top score of 35, Strictly co-host host Claudia Winkleman revealed it was the highest score for the Viennese waltz in week two in the show’s history.

Trailing the top performers were Miranda star Sarah Hadland and last year's Strictly winner Vito Coppola who wowed the judges with their striking paso doble to Freed From Desire by Gala Rizzatto which secured them a score of 32, bringing their total scores from week one and two to 62.

Meanwhile, JLS star JB Gill and his professional partner Amy Dowden continued their successful run with their slick cha cha to Closer by Ne-Yo, which landed them a score of 27 and landing in third place on the leaderboard after taking first spot in week one with a score of 31 out of a possible 40.

But sadly, the voting lines opening for the first time this series meant that the first dance-off was looming and therefore the first exitof the series. The dance-off took place against Tom Dean and Nadiya Bychkova
