BBC news presenter caught with feet up on desk during Downing Street coverage

A news presenter was caught relaxing with his feet up on his desk, during the BBC's coverage of the crisis at Downing Street. Tim Wilcox was caught leaning back with his feet up in the air checking his phone.

Ros Atkins has been reporting from outside Number 10, where Cabinet ministers are understood to be asking Boris Johnson to resign over his handling of the Chris Pincher scandal. But during his coverage, while he was explaining the current situation at Downing Street, the camera switched back to the BBC studio.

When it did, it caught an unexpected BBC journalist relaxing in the studio. Wilcox glanced up at his phone before realising the camera was switched on and quickly moved his feet off the desk.

The embarrassing moment only lasted a few seconds but was captured by eagle-eyed viewers. TV critic Scott Bryan caught the clip and posted it on Twitter.

In his tweet he said: "INCREDIBLE SCENES: BBC News accidentally cut away to their news studio, showing a presenter with their feet on the desk."

At the time of writing the tweet had received nearly 17,000 likes. It also led to many others making their own jokes about the error.

Blaze Evergreen (@evergreen_blaze) said: "He was on Twitter, like the rest of us…" Meanwhile, Brian Lynch (@blynch440) added: "Honestly that’s how he should do the news."

Podders (@Morris_Oxford) took the joke even further. They said: "At least we know for definite that he had trousers on."
