BBC Morning Live star admits 'we're losing the best' as he bids emotional farewell to colleague

The BBC presenter, who shares the show with Helen Skelton and Kym Marsh, expressed his heartfelt sentiments on Instagram this week as he said goodbye to assistant producer Lorna Phillips.

In an Instagram story, Gethin shared a group photo that included show regulars Michelle Ackerley, Janette Manrara, and Matt Allwright, with the caption: "Thanks to this lovely bunch for making my last show and the last two years such a fun ride!"

He also made a sweet remark about Lorna's departure: "Losing one of the very best, for now, hopefully!"

In a twist during Tuesday's broadcast, Gethin had to make a hasty exit from the set after a minor but amusing mishap, as reported by the Express.

Attempting to give viewers a preview of Wednesday's show (August 28), the Welsh host nearly missed his cue, sliding into view just in time, much to the audience's amusement.

BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent kicked things off by saying: "Morning Live follows Breakfast on BBC One this morning and they're actually talking about breakfast, I believe! Morning Michelle, morning Geth!"

A slightly disheveled Gethin managed a swift: "Good morning to you!"

Michelle seized the moment to gently tease him in front of Sally, saying: "He's only just got here, Sally, honestly."

Sally couldn't help but tease with a grin: "Nice of you to join us," as Gethin, looking somewhat sheepish, asked, "Are we on?" Michelle swiftly rebuked him, exclaiming: "We're live! What are you doing?"

But this wasn't Gethin's only blooper this week. After a conversation with hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt during the BBC crossover on Thursday, Gethin unexpectedly left the set.
