BBC host missing from own morning show as I'm A Celebrity star steps in

Laura Kuenssberg is usually at the helm of her self-titled programme on Sundays, presenting discussions around politics and current events on BBC One after the conclusion of Match Of The Day and BBC Breakfast. However, on December 1, viewers found that she was absent from her post.

Stepping in to fill Laura's shoes was none other than I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! alumna Victoria Derbyshire. Ahead of taking over the presenting duties, Victoria joined BBC Breakfast co-hosts Luxmy Gopal and Ben Thompson to reveal the schedule change beforehand.

While audiences are accustomed to seeing Laura greeting them at 9am every Sunday, it was Victoria who stepped up to the plate to welcome viewers ahead of time, confirming that viewers would be seeing her take on the weekend's broadcasting responsibilities.

During her appearance on BBC Breakfast, Victoria gave a primer on what fans could anticipate: "Good morning to you both, I am standing in for Laura today," reports the Express.

She went on to explain: "Today, we're going to be looking ahead at the Prime Minister's plan for change next week as he calls it 'knuckling down on delivering election promises'."

As she outlined her line-up for the day's show, Victoria added: "Pat McFadden described as one of the most powerful people in the whole of government will be telling us about that but also about what next for the assisted dying bill and that cabinet resignation, in the last few days."

The TV star continued: "We've also got Victoria Atkins from the Conservatives and Laura has been speaking to the film star Cate Blanchett to discuss her new film and AI in the movie industry, all that at 9am, here on BBC One, see you then."
