BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay couldn't resist teasing his co-host Sarah Campbell as her teen secrecies tumbled into the spotlight. During Monday's episode, the presenting duo were discussing the recent announcement that Dame Jilly Cooper's steamy bestseller 'Rivals' is getting a screen adaptation by Disney+, with its premiere date earmarked for October 18.

Released in 1988, 'Rivals' partakes in the Rutshire Chronicles - a collection of 11 romantic narratives, each weaving through the tapestry of upper-class life, and notably holding the second spot in the series.

Author Jilly Cooper, who boasts sales of over 12 million books and stands tall as one of Britain's most cherished romance writers, graced the show via a pre-recorded segment to converse about the upcoming eight-part series.

When the topic turned personal, Sarah Campbell seized the moment to unveil her youthful indiscretions, confessing that she'd secretly read the then-controversial book away from her mother's eyes.

Reminiscing about her school days, she mused: "I don't think there was a teenage girl in the late 80s who didn't have a Jilly Cooper tucked under their arm or hidden in their school bag from their mum.", reports the Express.
