BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay bids farewell to 'emotional' co-star 'Thanks for the last few weeks'

Jon Kay shared a heartfelt goodbye with Katie Gornall on Monday's BBC Breakfast, expressing gratitude for her coverage of the Olympic 2024 events in Paris over recent weeks.

Following a compilation of Olympic 2024 highlights, an emotional Katie, joining via video link, reflected on Team GB's performances.

As the segment concluded, Jon commended his colleague, mentioning the upcoming Olympics and stating: "See you there, Katie, look forward to it, only four more years to go."

Jon praised Katie's exceptional work over the weeks, saying: "Thanks so much for the last few weeks, it's been brilliant."

Jon and Sally Nugent then discussed Team GB's Olympic achievements with Katie, reports the Express.

Reflecting on the video montage, Katie remarked: "Gosh I was getting emotional listening to that then.

"There have been so many incredible memories throughout these games. The things that immediately spring to mind are some of those Gold Medal moments."

She continued with enthusiasm about a particular highlight in artistic swimming: "And there are things that come out of nowhere and I think a highlight for me was in the artistic swimming when Britain won their first-ever medal."

Katie surmised: "That to me, sums up a lot of these Olympics for Team GB, those moments you weren't expecting."
