Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann gives verdict on Cristiano Ronaldo transfer links with Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann doesn't believe Cristiano Ronaldo would get his desired wage packet from any Bundesliga club amid recent links with Borussia Dortmund.

Ronaldo made his wish to leave Manchester United public back in June due to his desire to play in the Champions League and frustration with the club's slow progress in the transfer window. However, United have maintained that he isn't for sale and no suitors have stepped forward to sign him anyway.

Bayern Munich were linked early on as they lost Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, with agent Jorge Mendes searching far and wide for a possible escape route for his client, but that was quickly dismissed by the German champions. Bayern's rivals Dortmund then emerged as a shock possible destination earlier this week, but Nagelsmann isn't concerned with the possibility.

"To be honest, I don't care if Cristiano goes to Borussia!" he said. "Whether he goes there or not, he doesn't matter to me. The only thing I know is that he has a contract with United. I've already learned not to talk about players who aren't mine.

"He's not the youngest anymore and that means you spend a lot of money. I think many clubs would like to have him, but 15 clubs in Germany couldn't afford his annual salary. And I don't see him earning around €500,000 per year – I simply cannot imagine it.

"Everyone knows that he is a great player, capable of scoring many goals. And, if you involve him, you will sell many shirts."
