Barry Ferguson admits TRUE Rangers title fears as one still lingers after Philippe Clement restoration job

Barry Ferguson admits he thought Rangers had NO chance of getting back into the title race, even if he wouldn't admit it publicly.

The former Ibrox captain watched Michael Beale's team go down 3-1 at home to Aberdeen and couldn't see a way back with the players at their lowest ebb. So he's delighted that the turnaround under Philippe Clement has proved him wrong, with three points against Hibs at Ibrox on Saturday enough to send them top of the table again, at least until Celtic play Livingston on Sunday.

But now that they're in it, Ferguson has urged the Light Blues not to throw the opportunity away. With two Old Firm clashes to come and some tricky post-split fixtures to negotiate, there are still plenty of potential pitfalls that must be avoided to prevent the champions making it Three-In-A-Row. "I'll be honest, deep down I thought there was absolutely no chance, certainly after that Aberdeen game," Ferguson told Go Radio.

"Being at it, watching it and seeing how low the players were, how bad a performance it was. They were so low on confidence.

"To be fair, the new manager has worked wonders. They're in a position now - don't throw it away. They've worked so hard to get here - yes Celtic have slipped up and there have been a few surprise results - but you've got win your games.

"They've got themselves in a brilliant position. Nine league games to go but you can't look too far in front of you. You;ve got to take it one game at a time.

"Hibs I'm will come and play a totally different way than they did the last game at Ibrox. I could not believe what I was watching with Hibs. They were so wide open, they just played into Rangers hands, so I;d be very surprised if Nick Montgomery comes to Ibrox and plays the same way.
