Barry Bannan sends message to Sheffield Wednesday fans as he reflects on club’s latest triumph

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has taken to Instagram to laud the club’s fans for the support that they illustrated during the club’s latest display in League One.

5,649 Owls fans made the trip to the Stadium MK on Saturday as their side managed to seal a 3-2 victory over Milton Keynes Dons.

Saido Berahino opened the scoring for Wednesday in the 10th minute of this fixture.

Lee Gregory then doubled his side’s advantage by firing an effort past goalkeeper Jamie Cumming.

Having set up both of these aforementioned goals, Bannan then produced a moment of magic to extend Wednesday’s lead.

The midfielder lobbed an incredible half-volley into the back of the net from 45 yards.

Following the break, the Dons scored twice to set up a nervy finish to the game for the Owls.

Darren Moore’s side managed to see out the rest of the game as they secured a crucial victory in the race for a top-six finish.

Currently fifth in the League One standings, the Owls will be determined to retain their play-off spot by delivering the goods in the next four games.

Reflecting on the club’s latest triumph on Instagram, Bannan has admitted that he was happy to get back on the score sheet on Saturday.

The 32-year-old posted: “Great 3pts, onto Tuesday we go, now another big game.

“Happy to get on the score sheet.

“Fans what can I say, amazing again running out of words but keep coming and backing us, we appreciate it.”
