Barnsley cast eyes over Watford attacker

Barnsley are considering a late move for Watford attacker Domingos Quina, according to Doug O’Kane of the Barnsley Chronicle.

The Twitter update suggests that Quina is one of a few options that the Tykes are considering as the deadline looms, with a deal most likely being a loan.

A further update from Football Insider has suggested that Barnsley are trying to secure Quina signature with several other Championship clubs in pursuit.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan with Fulham, however, he has struggled for minutes with the occupiers of top-spot in the Championship.

Quina has appeared just twice for the league leaders in the Championship this season, with the games being the first two of the season.

The young attacker has also appeared in the cup for the Cottagers and has also been confined to U23s football.

The verdict

A move away from Fulham would appear to suit all parties involved, particularly Watford who will be hoping that Quina can return and fight for a regular first-team spot next season.

Barnsley looks like a favourable destination for the Premier League outfit, given the increased potential to play and the influence he could have at Oakwell.

Quina has brilliant technical ability and is a nuisance when running at defenders, however, he has been unable to show that in what has been a frustrating loan spell in West London so far.

Barnsley have been missing a creative outlet who can consistently deliver, and the signing of Quina could go a long way in improving that void.
