Barcelona's transfer activity slammed as Robert Lewandowski takes spending past £100m

Julian Nagelsmann has taken aim at Barcelona's summer transfer spending, questioning how the club can afford the likes of Robert Lewandowski.

The Pole made it clear he wanted to quit Bayern Munich this summer and has secured a switch to Barcelona despite their well documented financial issues. The Catalan club have been forced to let Lionel Messi go in the last 12 months due to wage issues, yet they've spent over £100million this summer on new recruits.

Lewandowski completed his move shortly after the Spanish giants secured a £55m swoop to sign Raphinha from Leeds United. They've also added Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie on free transfers, while tying down Ousmane Dembele to a new deal.

Nagelsmann, who will now have to form his Bayern attack without the prolific Lewandowski, has spoken out against Barcelona's transfer activity. The Allianz Arena boss said: "It is the only club in the world that have no money, but then buy all the players they want. I don't know how they do it. It's a bit strange, a bit crazy."

The Catalans also added the likes of Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back in January to further bolster their options. LaLiga rules stipulate that clubs can only spend £1 for every £4 they make, with Barcelona thought to have debts totalling over £1billion.

Despite that, Lewandowski is the latest big name to join them and the forward is determined to get the club back to winning trophies. He said: "I'm finally here. I'm delighted to be at Barca. The last few days have been very long, but the deal is done and now I can focus on a new chapter and challenge in my life. I've always wanted to play in La Liga and for the big clubs. I'm here to help Barca get back to the top and win as many titles
