Barcelona cut Man United ace Cristiano Ronaldo's 'Siu' celebration from footage of youngster's goal

When it comes to goal celebrations, few in world football are more recognisable than Cristiano Ronaldo's.

The Manchester United striker, who scored his 22nd goal of the season in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, is renowned for his trademark 'Siu' celebration, where he runs, jumps up in the air, lands in the opposite direction, pushes out his chest and shouts 'SIU'. It originated from his time at Real Madrid and has been his trademark ever since.

It all extends from his time in Spain when he started shouting 'si', meaning 'yes', when he scored. Back in 2019, Ronaldo opened up on his celebration, explaining: "I started to say 'si', it's like 'yes', when I was in Real Madrid.

"When we would win, everyone would say 'siiiii' and so I started to say it. I don't know why, it was natural.

"I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration. I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest.

"Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they're like 'Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuu'." Having become such a trademark in world football in recent seasons, it appears to have rubbed off on others, especially youngsters. That includes Barcelona youth player Fermin Lopez, who celebrated with Ronaldo's trademark celebration during a recent youth fixture.

After scoring an excellent acrobatic effort, the youngster raced across the pitch and replicated Ronaldo's celebration. However, perhaps because Ronaldo used to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona appear to have cut Lopez's celebration from their highlight reel.
