Ballymacash Rangers create history with Premier Intermediate League play-off success

Ballymacash Rangers will play Irish League football for the first time next season after an aggregate win over St James' Swifts in their promotion play-off.

The Mid Ulster League outfit drew 2-2 with St James' at Donegal Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon to complete a 5-2 aggregate win.

Ballymacash went into the game with a healthy 3-0 lead following last Tuesday's first-leg success at Bluebell Stadium.

It has been an imperious season for Lee Forsythe's side who edged past Crewe United to clinch the Mid Ulster Intermediate A title.

The Lisburn outfit finished five points ahead of Eamon McCarthy's Crewe after losing just one league game all season.

They also scored 124 goals and conceded just 24 across their 30 games to be crowned deserved champions.

Now they can prepare for a crack at the Premier Intermediate League, the third tier of Irish League football.
