Bafana boss Broos thrilled after Morocco triumph: 'You don't build a team in one day'

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos didn't crack a smile, but made it clear that his team's 2-1 win against Morocco at the FNB Stadium on Saturday made him very happy.

Bafana took a 2-0 lead inside 48 minutes after a Moroccan own goal and Zakhele Lepasa strike, but Hakim Ziyech pulled one back on the hour mark.

South Africa currently tops Group K with seven points from four games, but in playing in a three-team group, their qualification program is complete.

Broos was insistent on his team putting out a good performance and his team gave him exactly that.

"I'm very happy not only because we won the game, but we deserved to win the game," Broos said.

"If you look at the chances that we had, I was happier with the performance because I said before the game that the result wasn't important.

"I liked to see a good performance and I liked to see the progression we made in the last month.

"We saw a team that promised progression in the past months and in this game, we played against a very good team. We were never dominated and on the contrary, we had our dominant moments, and at times, we had some very good chances."

Broos said he needed his team to grow and improve, but if they're able to continue playing in this manner, they have every chance of doing well in next year's African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
