Aymeric Laporte signalled Man City frustration with treble admission as Al-Nassr transfer bid accepted

Aymeric Laporte looks set to leave Manchester City this summer and the defender had hinted at a growing frustration over a lack of consistent football last season.

City have reportedly accepted a bid of around £25.6million from Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr for their central defender, who is thought to be open to leaving the Etihad in search of more regular football. He is said to have already signed personal terms on a £21m three-year deal.

Laporte saw his minutes reduced massively last season, playing the least of Pep Guardiola's five centre-backs. The Spanish international started just nine of the last 25 games he was available for last season, all of which came in fixtures that saw key players rested for decisive games in the near future.

He was introduced in the 94th minute of City's FA Cup win over Manchester United in June, his only contribution being to take a throw-in. It was typical of a campaign in which he was on the periphery.

Victory at Wembley put City within 90 minutes of the treble, and Laporte was asked after lifting the trophy if he was enjoying what would be a historic season. It was the first major hint that Laporte may be looking to find more regular football elsewhere. His watching brief in the Champions League final would only have intensified that feeling of glory achieved from the sidelines.
