Aymeric Laporte and Jack Grealish sent Man City messages following Crystal Palace draw

Manchester City missed out on the chance to reopen their six-point advantage over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table after being held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

Despite having 18 shots on goal, it was not enough to help City build on last weekend's 4-1 win over Manchester United. It means they have now won just two of their last four league outings.

Furthermore, it now means that Liverpool could move to within just a point of City if they win their game in hand against Arsenal on Wednesday evening. They will travel to the Emirates Stadium knowing that a ninth successive victory will leave them a point behind Pep Guardiola's side ahead of the upcoming international break.

Whilst City were not at their convincing best against Palace, they did not do too much wrong, with just their finishing letting them down. Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne both hit the woodwork, meaning it proved to be one of those nights for the reigning title holders.

It is why City's Aymeric Laporte came out on top in our fan-voted player ratings. We invited supporters to rank each City player's performance out of ten and the overall scores give an average rating for each player.

Laporte was City's highest-ranked player against Palace, attracting an average score of 6.9, whilst Stones scooped a respectable 6.8 rating out of ten, as did De Bruyne.

Goalkeeper Ederson scooped an average score of 6.6, likewise Riyad Mahrez, whilst Rodri earned a score of 6.3. No other City player earned an average score above six - Jack Grealish was the lowest-ranked player with just 4.4 out of 10 on average..
