Austria follow Scotland's lead as potential friendly opponents show Ukraine solidarity with ticket gesture

Scotland's potential friendly opponents Austria have announced a huge donation to support the humanitarian response in Ukraine.

Austria face Wales in the World Cup playoff semi-final later this month with the loser of that game facing Scotland in a friendly on March 29.

If Austria win it's been announced they will face either the Czech Republic or Sweden on March 29 instead.

The SFA have announced that a £10 donation from every ticket sold from their Hampden friendly with Poland on March 24, the day they were due to face Ukraine, will go towards supporting UNICEF's response in the country.

And Austria have now followed suit by announcing that 50 per cent of all ticket sales from their March 29 friendly will go Ukrainian charities as a gesture of goodwill.

They stated: "This game at the Happel Stadium will be all about supporting Ukraine. 50 percent of every ticket sold goes to organisations that provide urgently needed humanitarian aid on site.

"A full-price ticket in the best category costs 29 euros, and fans can be there in the stadium for as little as 16 euros and therefore actively express their support."

Steve Clarke and his team will face Poland on March 24 and will travel to either Cardiff or Vienna on the date originally pencilled in for the playoff final.

And the Tartan Army now know that if it's Austria they are facing then they can do their bit to support Ukraine by snapping up an ticket.
