Australian snowboarder Belle Brockhoff in painful crash during Winter Olympics team event

Belle Brockhoff has been cleared of serious injury after being tobogganed off the course having crashed during the mixed team snowboard cross event at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The 29-year-old was contesting the event in Australia’s first team with Cameron Bolton and were placed in a heat with another Australia duo of Josie Baff and Adam Lambert on Saturday, as well as teams from the USA and Switzerland.

With snow falling at Genting Snow Park, both Australian teams were well placed after the men’s run, with little separating the first four competitors.

Baff and Brockhoff were then in a tight women’s contest, but both crashed out at different stages after clipping the snowboards of rival riders.

While Baff was quick to recover, Brockhoff, who was in second position when she clipped American women’s gold medallist Lindsey Jacobellis midway through the race, laid prone on the course until medical aid arrived.

She laid on the snow as several officials tended to her, before she was sledded down the hill.

The Australian Olympic Committee revealed Brockhoff was suffering neck pain.

She was taken to hospital for scans.

“CT & MRI all clear, Belle is out of the neck collar and heading back to the Athletes Village shortly,” the AOC tweeted.

Prior to the prognosis, Bolton said the result was disappointing but his biggest concern was for his teammate.

“She went down pretty hard. Hope she’s doing well,” he told Channel 7.
