Aurelien Tchouameni provides honest update on his future amid Manchester United links

Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken about his future amid interest from Manchester United.

Tchouameni has produced some fine performances for Monaco this term. The Frenchman has been a key man for the Ligue 1 side, making 46 appearances in all competitions this season.

United are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder as they try to improve their squad in the summer. The 22-year-old is among those to have been linked with a move to United, with Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips also being monitored.

Speaking to the media this week, Tchouameni was asked about his future. "I am contracted here until 2024 with the option until 2025," he said.

"We’ll see what the future has in store for me. The transfer window is always a period where lots of things can happen. There is my personal case, but there are cases for lots of other players who are out of contract or who perhaps have desires elsewhere."

Monaco currently sit fourth in Ligue 1 with Champions League qualification still a real possibility. When asked whether participation in the elite European competition would influence whether he stays or goes, Tchouameni said: "Yeah, why not?

"The elimination last year stuck in my throat. Playing Champions League football with Monaco isn’t something that would displease me."
