Attempted murder arrest after man 'pushed down the stairs' and left with serious injuries

Police have made an attempted murder arrest after a man was 'pushed down the stairs' and left with serious injuries in Altrincham.

Officers had been called to a premises on The Causeway at around 2.10am on Saturday (June 8). A 52-year-old man had been pushed down a flight of stairs and was taken to hospital in a serious condition with 'life-changing' injuries.

A man, aged 32, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody to be questioned by detectives as investigations continue.

The victim, who was rushed to hospital after the 'serious assault' remains in hospital for treatment. The venue where the incident happened has not yet been confirmed.

Previously, Detective Inspector Andrew Langlands of Salford CID said: “This was a cowardly attack which left a man with serious injuries. Our investigation is moving at pace, and we are undertaking exhaustive enquiries to identify and arrest the person - or persons – responsible.

“We are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has information to share (including relevant CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage) to make a report to police as soon as possible.”
