Athlone No 2 Ken Kiernan takes the reins at Bohemians

Ken Kiernan has been appointed as the new manager of Bohemians women's first team.

Kieran was most recently assistant manager at Athlone Town, where he helped the club to FAI Cup glory last month with a dramatic extra-time win over Shelbourne.

He has previously managed and coached at LOI academy level, boys and girls, at Shelbourne.

"I can't wait to get going," he said. "I felt honoured when I was approached and asked to come here. I am looking forward to giving everything I have to the group and to the club.

"I have been involved in the women's game now for the past number of seasons and I believe I have helped to develop players reach their potential, to be high performers and to gain international recognition.

"That's what I want us to achieve here. We will train with purpose, and prepare our players to be elite performers, and we will be looking to build on the strong foundations that are here already."
