Aston Villa vs Brighton kick-off delayed due to crash on A23 near Amex Stadium
Aston Villa's scheduled 3pm kick-off with Brighton has been delayed with the first-team coach stuck in traffic following an incident on the A23 just north of the Amex Stadium.
Villa filed their team sheet en route to the stadium with Steven Gerrard making two changes to his starting line-up as Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa come in for Emi Buendia and Calum Chambers.
The stadium announcer at the Amex has said: "We can confirm there is a delay to kick off this afternoon. We will update you as soon as we have an update."
It's understood that Villa are caught in heavy congestion with the A23 partially blocked on the way to the Amex Stadium.
An AA traffic update reads: "The A23 is partially blocked, long delays and stop-start traffic due to a crash; two cars involved on A23 London Road Southbound from A273 to A27. There's congestion to the Sayers Common turns off."
The A23, of course, joins the A27 which, in turn, is the road towards the stadium at Brighton.
