Aston Villa tipped to complete six blockbuster summer transfers

Steven Gerrard will be backed in the summer transfer window as Aston Villa aim to compete for European football next season.

The club have spent over £350million on transfer fees alone since gaining promotion back to the Premier League in 2019 and there are no signs of that spending slowing down amid the club's lofty ambitions to break into the top six. In January, Villa signed Philippe Coutinho (loan), Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers and Robin Olsen.

He is yet to pen fresh terms at Elland Road, and while the club is in serious relegation trouble, the England international could leave if Leeds fall out of the top-flight come the end of the month.

Manchester United are the favourites to sign him, but recent reports claim that Phillips would reject a move. Instead, both Newcastle and Villa could be options for the 26-year-old.
