Aston Villa star Leon Bailey reveals imminent 'major announcement'

Aston Villa star Leon Bailey has teased supporters by revealing a 'major announcement' will be made on Wednesday.

Bailey, 24, has struggled with injuries since sealing a £30million transfer to Villa Park from German club Bayer Leverkusen during the summer.

He's managed one goal and two assists in nine Premier League appearances for Villa to date, and Steven Gerrard has confirmed the winger is closing in on a return.

Bailey hasn't featured for Villa since suffering an injury in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at Villa Park on December 1.

“We’ve now got Leon Bailey back in full training, but he won’t be in the squad tomorrow," Gerrard revealed ahead of Villa's meeting with Leeds United on Wednesday night.

Bailey is set for an eventful Wednesday nonetheless after telling his followers on social media platform Instagram to expect a 'major announcement'.

He posted: "This journey was never for the swift… but for the loyal lions who have been here, ever since Day One.

"Thank you Aston Villa. Up the Villa. Major announcement tomorrow."

Over the past few days Bailey has posted highlights of his football career on his Instagram page, with special messages to supporters of his former clubs Leverkusen and Genk too.
