Aston Villa's Bodymoor Heath reveal hints at team selection vs Watford

Preparations will continue at Bodymoor Heath today as Steven Gerrard and his coaching staff take their final training session prior to tomorrow's showdown with Watford.

Villa host Roy Hodgson's Hornets knowing they're without a win at Villa Park since beating Leicester on December 5.

After their latest setback against Newcastle, Gerrard has called on a big reaction to get back to winning ways with Villa currently 12th in the Premier League with 15 matches remaining.

Today, Villa have released a gallery of images from the first-team's latest session and, with it, picks out some interesting quirks ahead of the 3pm kick-off with Watford on Saturday.

Amongst the images sees Villa's squad split into two groups: bibs and non-bibs. There's always a competitive edge to training sessions under Gerrard, Mick Beale, Gary McAllister, Aaron Danks and Tom Culshaw and, on this occasion, there could well be a sign as to how Villa will line up on Saturday.

Interestingly, Philippe Coutinho and Emi Buendia are on the same side as Danny Ings and, knowing Coutinho and Buendia are likely to retain their places in the XI, could Ings be drafted in knowing he's been playing alongside the South American in training.

Those alongside Coutinho, Buendia and Ings are those that started the last match: John McGinn, Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers, Tyrone Mings and Jacob Ramsey. Another one tipped to come in from the cold this weekend, Ashley Young, is also on the bibs' team, as is young defensive midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.

Those on the non-bibs were as follows: Douglas Luiz, Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa (suspended), Kortney Hause, Morgan Sanson, Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins, Tommi O'Reilly and Carney Chukwuemeka.
