Aston Villa prepare new Rodrigo Bentancur bid as Bissouma & Douglas Luiz transfer standoff continues

We're all set for a tense and nervy final few days of the transfer window as Aston Villa hope to wrap up a deal for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

Villa had a £20million approach rejected by the Italian giants on Friday with Villa expected to go back in one final time for a fee closer to Juve's £25million valuation.

Ahead of transfer deadline day on Monday, January 31, Villa writer Ashley Preece ( ) staged a Q&A talking all things Bentancur, Atletico's interest in Matty Cash, Douglas Luiz, Yves Bissouma and more.

Here's what went down...

Juve proving tough to deal with; Lange/Purslow struggling for a breakthrough with this deal. Juve will wrap up £62m Vlahovic today but they want a new midfielder before allowing Bentancur to leave. Villa and Juve valuation of Bentancur apart at present as well. He's currently in South America in WCQ action. I'm hopeful of Villa pulling it out of the bag... could be one to rumble on until the deadline. Kamara from Rangers is the back-up option... we'll see.

Of those mentioned, Glen Kamara is most-likely should Villa miss out on Bentancur. Sadly, interest has cooled significantly in Bissouma. Whether Villa go back in the summer remains to be seen.
