Aston Villa fans split as £50m Newcastle United links emerge

Newcastle United are reportedly willing to allow Allan Saint-Maximin to depart the club this summer, which has put clubs such as Aston Villa on red alert.

Newcastle are supposedly willing to allow the Frenchman to leave if a suitable offer for him arrives, according to the Daily Mail. Villa are one of several clubs 'monitoring' the situation, as Steven Gerrard looks ahead to his second transfer window in charge.

His current deal at the Magpies runs until 2026, which means it will likely take a fee in the region of £50 million for them to part ways with the winger who has registered five goals and three assists in the Premier League this season.

Villa currently have the likes of Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey, Bertrand Traore and Philippe Coutinho all competing for starting roles for Villa in a system that doesn't naturally suit genuine wingers. If Villa did make a move for the player, it would like have to come at the expense of one of their current players as well as the system currently being implemented by Steven Gerrard.

Villa fans have gone on to comment on the links by stating:

He’s the last thing we need.

He would be an amazing signing for us he’s way too good for Newcastle.

Hope not he is very hit and miss should be an excellent player.

He isn't leaving Newcastle.

No. We have enough luxury players, don’t need another.

Doesn’t fit Gerrard system.

Never in a million years will this happen.

Wouldn't have him and neither would Gerrard.

No thanks.

No end product.
