Aston Villa: 'Very talented' £66.2m duo emerges 'big targets' at Villa Park

Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard has identified the ‘very talented’ Allan Saint-Maximin and Noni Madueke as ‘big targets’ ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Having been Europe’s sixth biggest spenders in January, the Midlands giants could look to splash the cash once again at the end of the season.

Gerrard was appointed as Villa’s head coach last November and – ahead of his first full campaign at the helm – it appears he is keen to bolster his wide options.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Newcastle star Saint-Maximin is being monitored ahead of potentially lodging a bid in the summer.

The report suggests the Magpies are willing to listen to offers in the region of £50million as boss Eddie Howe is looking to generate even more funds for a St James’ Park spending spree.

Villa are also keeping tabs on PSV Eindhoven ace Madueke and could look to seal a return to his homeland.

It is understood that the £16.2million-rated 20-year-old is on Leicester City’s radar too, while Gerrard and assistant Gary McAllister were spotted watching Madueke in PSV’s Europa Conference League clash with the Foxes.

O’Rourke believes Gerrard has pinpointed Madueke and Saint-Maximin as potential acquisitions heading into the summer transfer window.

However, the journalist understands that neither of the wingers will come cheap if they are to switch to Villa Park.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “Madueke and Saint-Maximin are obviously two very talented players.
