Aston Villa fans set for shirt price increase after Newcastle and Rangers make Castore reveal

Aston Villa will join Newcastle, Wolves and Rangers to work with the Castore kit manufacturer for next season following the completion of their three-year contract with Kappa. Last week, Villa announced a “multi-year deal” with the Merseyside-born sports brand for the start of next season.

Villa’s new home strip - already leaked online - will be unveiled ahead of the club’s tour of Australia next month, with an away and a third shirt released soon after. Nicola Ibbetson, chief commercial officer at Villa, said: “Ensuring we can provide high quality sportswear for both our players and supporters is crucial to the club. Over the past four seasons our shirt sales have increased four-fold as our supporters around the world have reconnected with the club and we are delighted to continue this journey with Castore.”

Today, meanwhile, Newcastle unveiled their new Castore home strip with prices set to be the same at Villa and Wolves. An adult top will cost Toon fans £65, while a pro shirt - the exact top the first-team will wear in the Premier League - comes in at a whopping £105. A child’s shirt is £50 with shorts priced at £80.

Last season at Villa, a Kappa shirt cost fans £57 (£90 pro version), meaning it looks set to be an £8 increase for supporters ahead of the 2022/23 season. Up in Scotland and Rangers have only released their third orange shirt (also costing £65 or £70 for long-sleeve) as well as their training range. A Rangers Castore training top comes in at £40, a half-zip tracksuit top is £70 with a jumper at £60.
