Aston Villa fans make 'unthinkable' Watford claim as season hangs in the balance

Aston Villa fans are cautiously optimistic ahead of their Premier League clash with Watford this afternoon.

Steven Gerrard 's side are set to host the Hornets at Villa Park today (3pm) with three points proving to be a huge ambition for both outfits.

A victory for Villa could propel them to within nine points of the top six with 14 games still to be played; three points for Watford, meanwhile, could reduce the exiting six point gap between them and safety.

Watford have one of the worst form in the Premier League over the past 20 matches, winning and drawing just three games each.

The Hornets have improved a substantial amount since Roy Hodgson's appointment as manager in late January, drawing 0-0 with Burnley and losing narrowly 1-0 at West Ham.

But Villa fans are concerned about how today's result will impact the remainder of their season.
