Ezri Konsa rumours dispelled as Steven Gerrard gets set for big Aston Villa transfer cull

Aston Villa have just 13 fixtures remaining across the next couple of months before attention turns to what promises to be a summer of change under Steven Gerrard.

The head coach, 41, has already informed how he's analysing his group of players ahead of making key decisions over some of their futures at the end of the campaign.

Gerrard is hellbent on securing a top-half finish with Villa and, looking ahead to next term, BirminghamLive's Ashley Preece chats with supporters on those that could be heading for the exit door at Villa Park.

Here's the best of the conversation with Cameron Archer and Jaden Philogene-Bidace hot topics of discussion...

No, nothing in those rumours, Dan. Gerrard drafting Konsa straight back in on Saturday tells you all you need to know, pal. Such an important player for Villa.

I've been told JPB and Archer are two players Villa want to keep around. The pair will be heavily involved over pre-season. Bertrand Traore has almost become a forgotten man given his hapless injury record. You'd say there would be suitors from across Europe who'll take him. He can be a handy player and could play as an unorthodox No.10. Trezeguet is, however, heading towards a permanent exit.

Yes, Johnus, a really assured showing on Saturday. Put simply, Villa were on it. As for Sanson, yeah, I'd like to see more of him but he's having to be patient at the moment. As you say, there will be a big clearout this summer. Those signed by previous sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch in 2019 - Trezeguet, Targett, Wesley and others - look set to be offloaded. And yes, I think Davis moving out on a permanent basis will be best for both parties.

Archer will stay and fight for a place with a loan later in the window perhaps
