Aston Villa confirm fifth deadline day transfer

Aston Villa youngster Tyreik Wright has joined Colchester United on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Salford City and made 18 appearances for the Ammies.

He returned to Bodymoor Heath at earlier this month at the end of his first League Two loan switch, and will now return to the fourth-tier to complete the season on loan at Colchester.

Wright joins a U’s side who are currently 22nd in League Two and fighting for survival in the Football League.

He follows Villa youngsters Kaine Kesler, Arjan Raikhy, Louie Barry, Jaden Philiogene-Bidace, Cameron Archer, Caleb Chukwuemeka and Aaron Ramsey in making January loan swtiches away from the club this month.

Wright has scored one goal this season, coming in a 3-0 win over Newport County in August for Salford.

He has also earned caps for the Republic of Ireland's U21 side, with nine to his name including one goal for his country, coming against Bosnia last year.
