Aston Villa can replicate £26m transfer deal as Steven Gerrard looks to cash in on Championship success

Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis is enjoying his time at Nottingham Forest, which could lead to the club receiving an enhanced fee for the player in the summer, like Bournemouth did with Tyrone Mings.

Mings, 29, first arrived at Villa Park on a loan deal in January 2019 from Bournemouth, who were in the Premier League at the time, whilst the club was operating in the Championship and looking to make a push for promotion in the second half of the season.

Villa of course did go on to achieve promotion with a 2-1 victory against Derby County in the play-off final - a success that ultimately led to Villa completing the permanent signing of Mings upon promotion, in a deal worth up to £26 million. The player has scored four goals and recorded two assists in 11 starts in red so far, with his most recent contributions being a brace in their 4-0 victory against Reading on Saturday.

Forest currently sit in ninth, just two points outside of the play-off places in the Championship but do also have games in hand on all the teams they will be competing with for these places, such as Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Luton.
