Aston Villa: £30.6m duo 'may not be seen again' at Villa Park

Aston Villa duo Bertrand Traore and Morgan Sanson may not play for the club again, according to journalist Josh Holland.

The duo have rarely been seen at Villa Park this term, and Holland does not expect them to get any more game time before the end of the season.

Traore featured in four of Villa’s opening seven league matches in 2021/22 under Dean Smith, but has only played three times in the top-flight since, starting just once since Steven Gerrard arrived at the club.

Sanson has got more minutes on the pitch, playing 10 times across the course of the campaign in the Premier League.

However, he has been unable to take his opportunities, which has meant that he has fallen behind some younger players in the pecking order, including Jacob Ramsey and Tim Iroegbunam.

Neither Traore or Sanson have had a direct contribution in a single goal this season, and they appear to be surplus to requirements.

Holland has admitted that Villa may have some issues in convincing other clubs to buy them, but he still suspects that Traore and Sanson, who have a combined Transfermarkt valuation of £30.6m, will not be seen in a Villa shirt again.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s whether a club will want to come in to buy them. That’s the problem that every football club has. If someone’s got an underperforming player, is someone going to come in and get them, unless you sell them for a cut-price. But, I think we could have seen the last of them.”
