Aston Villa: £120k-a-week star is 'a player of interest’ at Villa Park

Aston Villa target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘is a player of interest’ for the Midlands outfit, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 28-year-old has found game time hard to come by at Liverpool in recent months and as a result, has been linked with a move away from the reigning FA Cup holders this summer.

A report from Football Insider claims that Villa have ‘turned their attention’ to Oxlade-Chamberlain after already wrapping up three impressive deals in the current window.

Steven Gerrard has already added Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos to his ranks while converting Philippe Coutinho’s loan move from Barcelona into a permanent deal.

And Oxlade-Chamberlain could be next on the 41-year-old tactician’s wish list, although Villa could face fierce competition for his signature.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has revealed that Manchester United are contemplating making a shock move for the 35-cap England international in order to add some extra strength in depth to their midfield options.

It’s claimed that Liverpool have set a £10 million asking price for the versatile star, who only has 12 months left to run on his £120,000-a-week contract.

Jones told GiveMeSport: “He is a player of interest, but there are others they want to look at too in that situation. I think the really interesting thing about Oxlade-Chamberlain is he’s so adaptable in terms of where they could play him.
