Asda slashes prices for more than 200 items to reduce shopping bills

Asda is set to slash prices on over 200 own-label products, aiming to provide relief to shoppers struggling with rising costs. The reduced items span across various categories, including fresh produce, frozen meat and fish, pantry essentials, and ready-to-eat meals.

With a total of 226 items being discounted, customers can expect an average saving of 9%. These new prices will be effective starting July 21, both in-store and online.

This move by Asda comes shortly after its competitor, Morrisons, also implemented price cuts on 170 products, encompassing items like bread, chips, and meat. However, just because prices have dropped at one supermarket, it does not guarantee that the same products or comparable own-brand alternatives cannot be found at even lower prices elsewhere. To ensure the best deals, it is advisable to utilise comparison websites such as Trolley.co.uk to compare prices before making your purchases.

Asda has taken additional measures to support customers during this period of financial strain, including their summer price lock campaign. This initiative aims to freeze the prices of 500 products until the end of August, providing stability and predictability for shoppers.

Furthermore, Asda has extended its "Kids Eat for £1" cafe meal offer for the remainder of the year, offering families an affordable dining option.

Kris Comerford, Asda's chief commercial offficer, said: “We know that families are continuing to feel the pinch financially – especially as they head into the summer holidays - and are looking for help to make their grocery budget stretch further.

“Whenever there is an opportunity to help them make their money go further by lowering prices we will continue to do so.”
