Asda Horwich worker's dedication saves customer from a night in the dog house

"He was distraught, so I thought I'd better help him straight away," is the thought process of one customer service superstar working in Greater Manchester, on hearing that a man had lost his wedding ring while filling up his car at a petrol station.

While working at the petrol kiosk of the Asda Superstore in Horwich, 20-year shop veteran Chrissy was told by a panicked customer that he had just lost his wedding ring in a bin next to the pump and was facing a night in the dog house. Wanting to spare the customer from an embarrassing conversation with his partner, Chrissy knew there was only one thing for it - searching through the entire bin by hand.

Known for being jolly and good with customers, Chrissy selflessly emptied out the contents of the bin and found the man's wedding ring, which had come off after using a paper towel to refuel. After going above and beyond for a perfect stranger, Chrissy said: "He was made up when I found it, and thanked me before saying 'I can go home now!'"

Customer trading manager Carol, who is pictured on the left of Chrissy, nominated her for an Asda Service Superstar Award for her kindness to the customer. Carol said: "It's brilliant that Chrissy was able to put the customer's mind at rest, as I know first hand how much trouble he'd have been in if he'd lost it.

"Mmy husband lost his wedding ring three days after we were married when we went on honeymoon to Barbados. I still haven't forgiven him.

"Chrissy's a lovely, lovely person with a zest for life who'll do anything to help. She's always smiling and telling jokes and she's really good with customers, so this totally typical of her."
