Arsene Wenger hails "monstrous" mentality of Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane

Arsene Wenger has hailed Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for their "monstrous" mentality to perform on a consistently high basis all season.

The Arsenal legend's praise came after the Reds booked their place in the Champions League final with a 5-2 aggregate win over Villarreal on Tuesday night. Goals from Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Mane helped Liverpool to a 3-2 success on the night after easing to a 2-0 victory in the first-leg.

Jurgen Klopp's side could still win the quadruple this campaign, having already won the Carabao Cup with a penalty-shootout win over Chelsea. Liverpool also face the Blues in the FA Cup final on May 14 and sit just a point behind Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

It has been a phenomenal season for the Merseyside club, who have won 45 of their 58 competitive matches, with Mane and Salah at the heart of their success. This is despite missing five games each due to their involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and Egypt at the start of the year.

Both players reached the final of the competition and could feature in six more matches before the end of the domestic campaign. Salah has scored 30 goals in 46 appearances for the Reds, while Mane has stuck 21 times in the same number of games.

The duo have also clocked 18 assists between them and are pivotal cogs in Klopp's machine-like outfit. The signing of Diaz in January has helped give Salah and Mane occasional rests, while Diogo Jota has also been a key figure up front.
